"I am an active artist in Thunder Bay, Ontario, working as a painter, yoga teacher and environmentalist. As a self trained artist, my style depicts earthly elements, enhancing them with vibrant, soul – filling, swirling textures of colors. The unique end result of my art has evolved from my experiences in life and the places that inspire me. My hope and goal is to make art that is beautiful, that inspires joy, vibrancy and happiness".FOLLOW VIK WILEN
You know that feeling you get when an adventure is in the works? This piece was painted after an epic climbing adventure turned from an expected 8 hour day trip into 18. And the 2 snicker bars packed were dead and gone. Im sure an experience many in the outdoor world can relate to having. In light of that day- I created this painting. A playful, bright, and whimsical scene to remind me that not all adventures go the way you expect them to go. Be prepared and pack more snicker bars.SHOP ALPINE
For those of you who love to hike- im sure there is that one trail that is your go to- the most frequented. It has all the traits of a good hike. The incline, the view, the types of trees, the distance- maybe even the way it makes you feel. This piece was painted at the top of one of my favorite trails in BC- one which hosted the most spectacular view. I ran up daily just to sit and admire and get away.SHOP SHAFFERS
Canada has some of the best night skies in the entire world. There is this endless wandering desire I get when I look up and think about all to see and explore in this country. This painting is how I imagine parts of Northern Canada to be like. Where it is remote, rugged and isolated. A scene where the terrain is desolate and the stars dance with the sky.SHOP WANDER
My wild interpretation of waves and water with a little bit of soul mixed in. This piece was created after a long hike along a frozen river in December- where I imagined what life underneath the icy top would be like. Being from North Ontario our winters get cold. Life becomes very still and you just kind of hunker down in your home for a good majority of the day. The brave ones get outside and explore. This piece is what its like when you do. There is a beauty that the winters hold, a peacefulness that the rivers feel like that is indescribably perfect.SHOP SLEEPLESS
Fascinated with the growing surf culture happening on the Great Lakes of Canada and being raised on Lake Superior- I wanted to create a piece of work which showed how serious the waves on these lakes can be while still capturing the essence of ocean water surfing. The waves on the great lakes are wild and unpredictable with a thriving community and a unique- to the land- growing surf culture. The geese were an addition, a true representation of North Ontario, of Canada really.SHOP BARRELIN
