The third episode of the documentary exploring the personal and professional life of our ambassador Jolanda Neff recounts her lockdown experience and highlights her return to competition this summer.
Lockdown: period of uncertainty
This highly anticipated new instalment recounts Jolanda Neff’s anxiety at the uncertainty caused by the health emergency from March to May 2020, when annual races were either cancelled or postponed. She also discusses how much she missed cycling after the injury she sustained towards the end of 2019.
Having spent the lockdown in North Carolina (her partner, biker Luca Shaw’s homeland), as soon as the travel restrictions were lifted, she returned to Switzerland to train hard and make up for lost time.
Jolanda was determined to carry on training
Jolanda’s spirits and motivation waned as planned races were cancelled. But her determination to carry on training and beat her personal best was rewarded with incredible results at two European events: the Swiss Championships, her first, longed-for victory in a top competition after her accident. This renewed her national title. She also achieved second place at the XCO French Cup in Alpe d’Huez. Winning came as a major boost in this unusual season.
Her next challenges are the 2020 XCO World Cup to be held on the last weekend of September in Novo Mesto (Czech Republic), and the UCI MTB World Championship to be held in Leogang (Austria) on 10 October.
